Open your windows. You can either crumble up the smudge stick and burn it in a dish or light the end and blow it out, allowing the wand to smoulder.
After smudging your space, snuff out the stick and let it rest in a fireproof bowl for later use.
For your safety, please make sure your smudge stick is completely out before leaving it unattended.
